BFA in Physical Theater! 2010

February 2010

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

Coastal Carolina University, in association with San Francisco Circus Center's Clown Conservatory, has achieved legislative approval and now expects to offer an accredited BFA degree in Physical Theater -- the first in the nation! And just barely in time for students to begin next year and still get financial aid!

We are currently recruiting students to begin in the fall of 2010, graduating in the spring of 2014. Students can anticipate spending the first 3 years at Coastal Carolina University in a rigorous BFA program, which includes various movement forms, acting techniques, technical theatre, and a few general education requirements. A faculty member from the Clown Conservatory will teach one semester at CCU during the sophomore and junior years. Students will spend the entire senior year in San Francisco as first year students at the Clown Conservatory. As students of Coastal Carolina University, students will be eligible for federal financial aid and student loan packages, and will receive a NAST accredited BFA degree upon graduation. Admission is based on application, audition, and interview. (DVD auditions are possible) Priority financial aid deadline is March 1, 2010. Interested applicants, including transfer students, should contact Ken Martin, as soon as possible 843-349-6559 or kmartin@coastal.edu.

As a BFA degree is designed for talented and committed high school graduates who are ready and able to commit to professional training, please help spread the word to the many circus students and physical theatre performers looking to move directly into a college program geared to professional training in clowning and physical theater.
