            <description><![CDATA[ New Orleans Opera Association is seeking 2 acrobats, 1 juggler and a fire eater for their upcoming production of ROMEO &amp; JULIETTE, performances are Nov 20th and 22nd, rehearsal begin Nov 5th. A detailed rehearsal will be posted soon, though it should only involve a few placement rehearsals before tech week which starts on Monday Nov 16th. Performances are at the Mahalia Jackson Theater. The Prescott Circus Theatre is an exciting and innovative after school circus arts education program serving youth in Oakland, California since 1984.  The program’s original site, Prescott Elementary School, is the home of the performing company, comprised of 4th and 5th graders who train, rehearse, and entertain throughout the year.  Circus skills include juggling, stilting, unicycling, acrobatics, balancing, hip hop dance, Hambone body percussion, clowning/acting, and performance production.   The Prescott Circus also offers satellite programs at 6 additional Oakland schools.  The program model combines best practices in youth development with a culturally conscious pedagogy and curriculum.  The Prescott Circus is a well-known and highly valued community asset. Our young stars entertain over 30,000 fans annually. Artistic/Managing Director responsibilities include:<br />

Direct Services with Youth<br />
•	Lead performing company training, rehearsal, and performance production sessions 3-4 afternoons per week using best practices of youth development and risk management<br />
•	Create performance pieces in partnership with teaching artists and youth performers<br />
•	Prepare students to lead circus workshops for younger students and to interact with the public at various events<br />
•	Organize and implement homework support program<br />
•	Organize and implement supplementary classes with guest artists, including Junior Circus program<br />
•	Work with Leadership Team students currently in middle and high school to develop new projects and assist with training sessions and performances<br />
•	Direct students in public appearances at approximately 40 venues annually, primarily on week-ends<br />
•	Organize and lead annual events such as family pot luck, overnight study retreat, showcase or special event during spring break, and 5-week summer circus camp<br />
<br />
Management and Organization<br />
•	Organize and implement all aspects of recruitment, retention, scheduling, coordination of facilities and equipment, record keeping, and evaluation.<br />
•	Manage all arrangements for performing events or appearances<br />
•	Prepare monthly and quarterly reports of participant data and activities<br />
•	Communicate regularly with parents, community, school personnel, after-school staff, and media<br />
•	Maintain accurate expense records and receipts; work within budget<br />
•	Work with Executive Director, Satellite Program Director, and Advisory Committee in strategic planning process to facilitate organizational development, capacity building, and program expansion<br />

Qualifications: <br />

B.A. degree, related discipline preferred<br />
Teaching experience, urban setting preferred<br />
Performing arts background or experience, Circus Arts preferred<br />
Creative energy balanced with strong organizational skills and experience<br />

Cultural competence or willingness to learn<br />
Computer skills or ability to learn: Word, Excel, data base management<br />

Our circus camp is located on the SUNY Purchase campus in Purchase, NY and is open from June 30th to August 22nd. Compensation will depend on the coach's level of experience. We work Monday through Friday from 9am to 4pm and do not have campers on the weekend. The camp is for kids age 7 to 16. I am primarily looking for coaches that can give me four weeks or eight weeks of the summer, but I am interested in all resumes. Position Summary:<br />

Come help us teach the art of life through circus education. St, Louis, Missouri's only circus school and social circus program is seeking a unique individual to add to their staff.  We have a strong social circus mission that includes a code of ethics for students and teachers. Teachers are considered role models to the students and ambassadors to the community. We teach over 1300 students a year in both single and semester-long classes. In addition to our on-site location, we present outreach classes in a number of off-site locations. In some cases, our teachers are the most reliable adult in our students' life. This is not just a job. It is a commitment to becoming part of a family that helps children &quot;defy gravity, soar with confidence and leap over social barriers, all at the same time.&quot; We are seeking a teacher who can teach a wide variety of circus arts and is also able to choreograph acts and shows with our students. Students range in age from 5 to 81 years old, although most are children.  Currently, for us to provide a full 40 hour work week, candidate will need to also perform administrative duties and/or perform.  <br />

Responsibilities:<br />

Teach beginner, intermediate and advanced circus arts classes for children and adults of different abilities and backgrounds <br />
Help students develop their own acts <br />
Choreograph student shows <br />
Keep circus classroom, storage areas and costumes clean and organized <br />
Teach life skills such as persistence, focus and teamwork through circus arts <br />
Uphold and model a code of ethics <br />
Help students maintain circus skill log books <br />
Track results of developed logic models to prove program effectiveness <br />
Ideal candidate needs to be able to handle administrative duties and/or perform <br />
&gt;Admin skills include computer proficiency in Word, Excel, Access and graphics programs (experience creating newsletters and programs a plus)<br />

            &gt;Performing requires 20 – 30 minute solo show that can be presented in the round (strolling skills--- juggling, stilt-walking, magic, etc--- a plus)<br />

Aerials: static trapeze, lyra, Spanish Web, cloud swing, fabric, double and triple trapeze <br />
Equilibristics: rolla bolla, rolling globe, unicycle, tight wire, slack wire, free standing ladder <br />
Object Manipulation: toss juggling, contact juggling, diabolo, devil sticks plate spinning, hat manipulations, etc. <br />
Clowning and character development as well as prop construction and make-up <br />
In addition: Magic--- sleight of hand and big illusions---  a plus <br />
